Ang Yi Shuan

Probably the world's most average software developer. Dreamer and doer.
National University of Singapore

Welcome to my blog! My name is Ang Yi Shuan, and I'm thrilled to share my journey and insights with you. I graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2021 with a Bachelors with Honours in Computer Engineering, complemented by a minor in entrepreneurship (my OpenCert can be downloaded here, check certificate here. My passion for entrepreneurship ignited during my time at university, where I actively pursued opportunities to immerse myself in startup ecosystems.

In 2019, I participated in the NUS Enterprise Summer Programme in Entrepreneurship (NUSSP), where my team clinched victory in the social track startup pitch. Eager to delve deeper, I joined the NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC) programme in Shenzhen, China, and Singapore in 2020. This experience not only broadened my understanding of startups but also led me to become the class ambassador, promoting the programme to juniors.

Driven by my entrepreneurial spirit, I founded AUBII, a startup focused on enhancing piano learning through a smart sensor system. AUBII was a recipient of the NUS Venture Initiation Programme (VIP) grant, an initiative by NUS Enterprise to support entrepreneurial pursuits of innovative ideas by NUS students and alumni. Though our journey with AUBII ultimately faced challenges, including the disappointment of its closure during the NUS Graduate Research Innovation Programme (GRIP), I embraced the opportunity to learn and grow from setbacks.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I shifted gears and delved into the world of finance, spending 28 months developing a quantitative trading algorithm trading US equity/index derivatives (I name the system "TailTitanPro").

Now that my algo-trading project is functionally complete, I find myself in 'discovery mode,' eagerly exploring new opportunities that offer significant potential for impact and personal growth. Alongside my professional pursuits, I'm actively engaged in my local community, volunteering as a software engineer for a book club "The Saturday Book Club" (TSBC). I developed a Telegram bot, @thesaturdaybookclub_bot, which efficiently streamlines attendance management for our sessions, serving approximately 60 members concurrently every session (Blog post about the bot here).

In my downtime, I indulge in various hobbies, including baking intricate recipes, devouring non-fiction literature, tickling the ivories on my piano, relishing sunset jogs, and learning Korean using Duolingo. Join me as I navigate through the intersections of technology, entrepreneurship, and personal development on this blog!
